Yeah, at this point the price is up there in the 300B range. Almost entirely defeats the purpose.
Nah, 300Bs have gone waaaay more through the roof than any transistor, and they are even in current production: ELROG 3300B Molybdenum Version

You can buy the cheaper Chinese 300B's at roughly the same price but all depends on whether you want SS or a tube amplifier. No question there are more transistor amplifiers these days than tube. The SS crowd is much larger. I agree the price for those transistors is awful compared to what they sold for a few years ago. Not something I would buy but I fault no one for buying them and building an amp with them.

Tokin SIT's are still available today ! Cost relativelly transistor triode for "cheap" as well 😉
