Very audiophile of me I know, but I have started a pretty much end to end upgrade of my system which has remained unchanged since the late 90s and, due to a bit of mission creep the costs are mounting up as I try and pack a 3 year upgrade plan into 6 months. So something needs to go. Whilst looking at things to go on ebay I realised that, from around 88-93 whenever I visited hi-fi shows I would pick up a few of the 'spectaculars' of the day. And of course back then I used them when doing equipment demos but never listened to them at home. So I looked on ebay and discovered that mint copies of Dafos go for £80+ on ebay (130 bucks over the other side of the pond). Sheffield track record goes for even more. A couple of the reference recording releases like Tafelmusik I would keep, but most of the rest I have not listened to for 15 years or more.
Ethical dilemma or a sign of a recovered audiophool?

If it's honestly music you don't care for, by all means proceed. Life's too short to listen to music that's not your taste.

Really take mine I have both and more, personally I think Dafos has little or no musical value (the IN crowd can now hate me).

This has all the makings of an O'Henry story. Just so long as you don't give up anything you might really enjoy...

Had to google O'Henry. I see what you mean.
I have a normal rule never to let go of music unless the records were bargain bin and ruined. When young I was a classic audiophool and spent more on the hardware than the vinyl. That changed when I disovered the second hand record shops in chicagoland and the ALS Music marathon (dunno if the classical station still does that). A marquee full of vinyl with much under $1 a pop.
But if some of the 'spectaculars' have not been played for 20 years it's worth a look. I have other things to sell first🙂
Serves me right for mission creep on the active speaker project leaving me running out of funds..
