selective tone control

Can anyone explain why my tone control in my 5F2 Princeton will only work after ive tested it with a multimeter? I thought it was the pot but it tested fine so I plugged back in and it worked perfectly. I didnt use the amp for a day or so and it started doing the same thing untill I tested it with the multimeter again. WHY?! could it be one of the capacitors, why does it work after I test the pot??

Sounds like a loose or dirty connection. Give all the connectors a good cleaning, and check they are all tight.

I checked my joins already and they all look fine, there solid and shiny. I do have the capacitor earthed to the back of the pot though, could that make it play up? if so ill try wire to earth it instead.
