I started another thred reference my Marantz cd67 skipping.
I decided to try and fix it with help from here. In the meantime i decided to check out second hand prices on ebay.
I spotted a Arcam Alpha 7 that looked cheap! I put in a bid and won for £37! seemed a bargain.
The seller was in my area today so we agreed to meet to exchange my cash for goods.
Got it home and it works perfectly and the sound is great. It didn't come with a remote but amazingly my Marantz remote works, every button.
I'll still try and fix the Maratz or sell on.
I've watched 2 Alpha 7 sell tonight for over £100!
Thought i'd share my bargain.

That's good 🙂 Most CD players, even the really exotic ones use standard Philips "RC5" coding. My Micromega remote works a friends Sugden perfectly.
Cheers Mooly and thanks for the help with the Marantz.
do you think the Arcam was a good price? is it perceived the Arcam to be better than the Marantz?

Arcam are perhaps thought of as more "specialist" perhaps than Marantz -- never owned a CD player from either. Sounds a good price, and if it's good cosmetically ( no scratches ) you can get it like new, removing and washing chassis, front etc, even the PCB's if you know how to go about it. Clean the display and polish the perspex window. Enjoy it 🙂
