The amount of probes on ebay is confusing.Should I stick to a recognised manufacturer(Ie Textronix,HP/Agilent)
So many of them look the same
I'm thinking of these ones

An advantage of sticking with a Tek probe will be that the 'scope will recognise it as a 10x probe and then adjust the vertical scale automatically.
What ever probe you buy needs to be direct/X10 switchable probe. Tektronix and H-P probes tend to be somewhat fragile. But they are delicate instruments.

I've been using Tektronix P6137 for years, haven't broken yet.
The 24XX class were among the best analog scopes ever built.
Nvram battery.
Presumably if it goes flat the scope loses all its calibrations
What voltage is it?
Presumably if you got a new battery you would still need to supply the voltage as you pulled the duff one out.So maybe two new ones? One to jump lead to points on the pcb near the battery that connect to the battery so that voltage still supplied then a new one to solder into battery place.or maybe a dc voltage from a power supply instead

Not sure if the 2245 uses a battery or not to maintain pre-sets. Some scopes use a Dallas Clock which has the main system clock, the nvram and the backup battery all in one package. Average life on those is 10 to 15 years. Some of my H-P scopes use a solder in lithium battery, one uses a Dallas Clock. I never had to open my 2465A so I can't say what's in it but it is a lot older then any battery would ever last!!

in the Yahoo Tekscopes group one of the participants outlined a procedure for replacing the battery without damage to the NVRAM.
