Hey, wilbur, good to see you. 🙂

I think the problem with this speaker is the low 1.6kHz crossover forced by avoiding cone breakup on the metal 8" woofer. And the waveguide is rolling off lower than you would like at the top end. Perhaps you should do the exact SEAS TRYM thing and lose the waveguide. At least you get the top end back, even if the dispersion is not so smooth. Or add a supertweeter.

TBH, I think you should admit defeat and build a three way:
PMS-EXCEL

Even without baffle step calculated in, he should still have enough top end to level out the tweeter and match the woofer's level. A WG adds boost to the bottom end, unless it's poorly designed, it shouldn't be taking anything away from the top end. The top end "droop" is just the lack of boost at those frequencies.

Good to see you again Steve,
Defeat is never an option by the way ;-)
There is no problem to make the curve flat by adjusting C6, but in fact, I prefer high HF attenuation. A kind of exaggerated BBC ? The challenge was to avoid a bumped peak at the crossover point. There is more than enough boost in the bottom end for the WG. (Being a HVAC engineer I'm not a high skilled expert in this area).
I think that the Neville Thiel (NTM) method as mentioned above (Dayton example) is a good approach to kill the resonance peak (even if attenuated somewhat for Trym)
We also made the original Trym a year ago. The Trims current owner also has he possibility to adjust tweeter by eq.

I appreciate we are just wool-gathering here really, since the speaker is sold and departed.

Lovely old tinitus swore his ribbon tweeter added something to the waveguide tweeter, despite being almost above audibilty:

Perhaps, as he said, it was just making for a nice high frequency resistive load? Who knows?

We still miss Lars Dyreborg. A gentleman. 🙁
