I built the small thor and had some major corrosion issues with my drivers as well. I decided to get the w18nx001 nextel drivers instead based on the recommendation of Seas and Chris at Solen. and I am thinking about building a new smaller cabinet and came across yours. I wanted to thank you for posting here as well as the Dutch site as I could not get the pictures to load on that site. The nextel drivers are similar to the mag driver and have the same QTS as the original Mag drivers but a higher Fb -40 have them in the small thor cabinets but they could use a smaller cabinet I think. Is there a benefit to the angled front on the speaker? Have you measured the FR? How would you rate the sound stabe and imaging? Have you had any issue using hardwood I have some nice oak and maple that is about 10 years old and am considering using it for the front baffle. the short thors with the mag drivers were the best speaker I ever owned. The nextel drivers are close and better in some ways but I do miss the mag drivers for the deep bass and clarity. anyway thank you again for posting

Hi 8ntractor,

I never have done measurments.
Only a specialist of the ZBAF long time ago.
Results of the measurements was a small correction in the mid-range I believe.
But for me it was the original filter more than okay.

I never had issues with solid hardwood, also the Odins are perfectly in absolutly new condition.
If you use solid hardwood please use glued solid wood furniture panels.
This is to prevent the panel from warping.
Also use proper bracing inside cabinet and glued properly in combination with enough dowels.

Unfornunatly all my threads are deleted on the Dutch site, or maybe hidden.
I really don't know why.

The Nextel drivers are also amazing beautifull drivers but I think you have to check the cross-over again.

The angled (tilting) front I did pure for the looks.

Thank you Hondasnl

I did have to remove a few components from the tweeter side because the nextels are a little more efficient. I have a pretty good FR but I cannot get anywhere near the bass the Mag drivers had. The Nextels are not as clear either and in hind site I should have repurchased the mag drivers. I think I am going to build a 43 liter cabinet and keep the 9" baffle and tune to fb to 43hz The speakers sound really good and measure pretty flat. my room is quite small so pick up a lot of room modes. The imaging and soundstage may be a little better with the Nextels but very close. I still have some work to do but want to build the new boxes before I spend much time on the crossover. Thank you again for all of the images they are very inspiring. 1708456650525.jpeg

Hi Peter I never ever have had problems with good proper massive solid wood panels. Never ever cracks. I use always the best materials.
Important also to relax the wood couple of days.
These speakers I built 2007.....
