How necessary is it to align them? It would complicate my design quite a bit, and I have seen that many manufacturers do not do this. I can do it, but I am wondering if I can't just compensate for it in crossover? Thank youalign acoustic center of the woofer and the tweeter with a waveguide or a baffle offset.
You should measure the offset, for a 5" it is near 1" (2.5cm). Several possibilities by preference :How necessary is it to align them? 1. A 5" waveguide : https://www.visaton.de/en/products/accessories/waveguides-and-horns/waveguide-wg-148-r
2. A baffle step : http://www.troelsgravesen.dk/Ellam98-mkII.htm
3. A baffle tilt : http://www.troelsgravesen.dk/Revelator-51.htm
4 A LC allpass circuit : http://www.zaphaudio.com/ZD5.html
Hmmm, I see that a tilted baffle is a problem for 1" dome tweeters due to roll off but for the ribbon that plays up to 40k it shouldn't be a problem? You should measure the offset, for a 5" it is near 1" (2.5cm). Several possibilities by preference :

But designing a tilted baffle will be a small issue, and a baffle step is just not something I want to look at every day hahaha.
I will look into that fourth ladder delay option. Are there any downsides to doing the delay?
I don't know but you use a lot of components.I will look into that fourth ladder delay option. Are there any downsides to doing the delay?
a tweeter that has more presence and "attack"
Both terms of which i would interpret as too much of something.

We have a brand in France, Triangle who made this kind of sounding esthetic, a typical sound signature in the treble +6dB at 20kHz
Fortunately they have stopped to do this in their last models.
