Just FYI, there are some surplus 4" Mission mid-bass drivers (some far-eastern OEM) that are available in various shops in Chennai for ~Rs.200. They're very well made, but with 4 ohms impedance - probably good for car-audio upgrades, or hook two in series as mid-bass drivers.

Also spotted some surplus Matsushita (Panasonic) 6-ohm 3" drivers for ~Rs.85. Again, heavy and very well-made with aluminium cone and thick solid-rubber surrounds, but the mounting flange and hole pattern is slightly larger than found on typical 3" drivers.

even i have purchased 4" mission subwoofers from lamington rd. didnt get any specs. but the speakers are very well built ,the magnet is very heavy for a 4incher.it is paper cone and 8 ohms.
right now i am looking out to making the wallin jig ,need help, i am not technically qualified dont know to use a multimeter. please help

This is one of the side streets, immediately parallel to Ritchie Street on the West (nearer to the Cooum). To get there, enter from Mount Road on the street next to India Silk House; keep going past Ritchie St. (the main North-South Road), and take the next right turn on to the street parallel to Ritchie St. This is a short, dirty segment of about 50 meters which has stores specializing in cabinets and speakers for the most part. There is a Rajasthani dude (with small gold ear studs) who runs a store on the right (East) side of this street - probably the 2nd store from the North end of the street. He sells only drivers, from what I could see. There are other stores in the same vicinity, including the Audio Store, which specialize in drivers and cabinets, but none has the range of drivers that this dude has.

It helps to speak Hindi, or take somebody along who can speak Hindi, to negotiate better terms. Also take a multimeter along to measure DC resistances. FWIW, the Matsushita driver has the text "T8PL19C6 CHN 0343CD" on it. CHN must refer to the country of origin of this driver, probably China. The Matsushita "M" logo is stamped on the flange, and the quality of the manufacture is sufficient to establish its authenticity.
