Why does it matter? 9 whopping watts won't fill the stadium unaided (maybe with a semi full of speakers). 4 Watts is more than enough for your neighbors to call the cops on you. The difference between polite Triode and aggressive Pentode tone may be much more important than a few Watts either way.
Put a switch on it and try both ways.
9 Watts, More than enough power. I just had a friend play through it for evaluation and he loved it, plenty of power, breakup at the right point, incredible harmonics, and quiet when it's supposed to be. Someday i'll learn how to play but for now i have to rely on others to evaluate. Thanks for all the help guys. 🙂
the difference between 4 watts and 9 depends on the efficiency of the speaker. I just built an SE amp started off as a 5c1, then 5f1 but 3.5 watts into my alinco speaker just really wasna much at all so in went a 6l6 in pentode mode and now its a usable amp. at least round home.
