Does anyone know of SD card controller ICs capable of reading and writing cards following at least the SDHC 4-bit standard, that can be interfaced easily via a bus to a microcontroller?
I'm trying to write approx 2Mbytes/second to an SD card (digital audio) and I'm finding that bit-banging the interface via the controller is somewhat temperamental.
There are chips that have built-in USB PHY, like the ones used in cheap plug-in card adapters: Genesys Logic, Inc.
and an NXP IC that seems to be going end of life: http://www.nxp.com/documents/data_sheet/SDIO101A.pdf
