scratch/gouge protection

Don't know why I didn't think of this sooner . . .

A lot of things are packaged firmly with stryofoam now. Being a packrat by (diy) nature, I save some of it that can be used for my own shipping.

On my current amp build, I was looking for something to rest the chassis on when working on the wiring, without scratching or gouging it. I used pieces of different thicknesses to match the height of the transformer, taped together. Works great. 🙂

Often when I work on something that could get scratched
I will put a towel under it to protect it from the work bench.

I use some rubber mat that I found over twenty years ago that has ribs. The tiny bits/grit stay in the bottoms of the grooves while the tops of the ribs support the finished surfaces l.
