Scored!! Leak 2075 speaker

Hello friends,
Yup I've scored a pair of leak 2075
First thing I wannabe do is power these babies up however, speaker terminals had to be unique! What a bummer!
I may have to "hot wire" or simply (I hope) bypass to make the connection.
Has anyone ever had a pair?
Suggestions on how to connect these to amplifier?
Anything?
I will be receiving these in the morning so want to be prepared. 1 suggestion is to change the wire to the bass for something much better, I read this on another thread apparently the stock cable is yousless and some of the low frequency is lost due to this.

It looks like you just connect your amp to the terminals on the large woofer enclosure.

A captive cable connects the woofer enclosure to the (rotatable) upper enclosure via a special plug.

Let us see pictures of what you've got once you've got them.

I believe the suggestion you read may have been: "Replace the wiring. The stuff that Leak used is appalling and actually removes a bit of the bass frequency range."

That may be the least of your worries and I suggest that checking for faulty drivers and out of spec capacitors should be your first port of call.

P.S. It may be that the binding posts on the rear of the woofer enclosure I pictured in post #2 have replaced a special Leak connector socket.

I look forward to seeing the photos of 'wot u got', connector plugs and sockets in particular.

Cheers Galu,
Yea I've seen the video "hifi hanger" great big speakers. Those in the picture have been modified, the input is a 3 pin.
Suppose I could bypass. Really looking forward to these, think I've read everything about them on all the different threads. Finding room for them is a problem...somethings have to go!
The Pro9 TL's, the other TL? I have really enjoyed these 2 speakers, had allot of fun but...dunno???

So do you think the bypass option?
Suppose I could change the bass cable for something better at the same time...
I had the Tannoy Berkeley speakers once, 15in dual concentric very nice indeed but no comparison to the 2075. The tweeter is abit in your face apparently but I like that...

Hiw does it soundif you orient the top3 drivers vertically? I’d put the tweeter in the bottom.

I am am an oldster who remembers these from when they came out. I don't think stereo imaging was a priority back then. With the sideways orientation of the drivers, there is no way these speakers could ever image to an acceptable standard. Leak were a strange mob. The sandwich woofers had some genuine engineering innovation and I restored/upgraded a 2060 with the 12" woofer to a nice sounding result. But what were they thinking with the 2075? Transmission lines were the hot speaker item at the time. I think there was a cosmetic upgrade to the 3090. Then Leak bit the dust.

H.J. Leak and Co. was transferred to the Rank Organisation in 1969 to join up with Rank Wharfedale.

The decision was made to identify Leak as the premier or "high end" brand and Wharfedale as the second string.

However, some components were shared between Leak and Wharfedale speakers, notably the tweeter and perforated cone midrange driver of the Leak 2075 which were also used in the Wharfedale Dovedale SP pictured below.

Allot of interesting stuff. Well thay came in huge boxes, you would have thought there was fridges inside! I never got them in the end😢 just too big. I have 2 great big transmission line speakers and plus the Leaks....The TL's will be for sale to make room for when I can accept the larger speakers...no no 1 of the TL's will be...

Reading the posts maybe I made the right choice. I got gear to sell to fund which larger speaker, the Tannoy Berkeley were nice when I had them but needed a larger enclosure to really sing. A single point source would be a first choice. I do know a good carpenter, Tannoy, Lowther what else? Electrostatic/bass twin enclosure! Maybe this is morphing into a different thread..

"YOUR LAST SPEAKER" as title?
