Scope Recommendation

I'm thinking of getting a scope for work. Mainly for low voltage work, up to 30VDC, 300VAC. I deal with industrial Modbus, CANbus stuff, sensor such as 4-20mA.

I'll also use the scope to work on SS amplifier in my spare time.

I'd appreciate any input on what scope to get, perhaps entry level digital model from Owon SDS1000 Oscilloscope with 20MHz bandwidth and 100MS/s sample rate and USB Port Manufacturers and Suppliers China - Quotation of Brands' Products - OWON

or entry level Siglent if budget allow, something like SDS1102CML.

What spec I should be looking for? such as bandwidth and channel? how many bits of vertical resolution? how many ...mV/div vertical sensitivity?

Thanks.

In December 2017 I bought a Rigol DS1054Z scope which is 4 channels 50MHz. It can be hacked easily to open it up to 100 MHz (which it reports in the display). It also decodes i²C and RS-232 serial data and will show hex, binary decimal or ASCII.

A couple guys at work each bought one also and we're all happy with them.

I used it a lot on the new 6 channel audio preamp I did with an Arduino to load the registers of the volume and tone control chips.

The Rigol is in that price range and certainly merits a close look.

Hope you find something you like.

Hi Stratus,

Thanks for the recommendation. Will check out Rigol DS1054Z, hopefully there is a distributor for Rigol in here.

What you said about RS-232 capability is interesting, indeed many of the equipment I deal with at work uses serial data link.
