do any one have the schemetic of cs8414 + df1704 + pcm1704
or cs8414 + cs4396/cs4397/ cs43122?
please share, because i want to build a DAC project...
thanks

Anyway, HK man, how much and what kind of channel u can buy 1704.
I have DIR1703 and DF1706 (Each 20 pcs), now seeking the PCM1704

Dave has a good project incorprating PCM1704. He might send you more info :http://www.geocities.com/d_broadhurst/24bitdac.html
I am happy to be of service. Schematic shows CS8420 reciever, DF1704, balanced stereo PCM 1704, and passive I/V conversion stage.
An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.
PCM1704
nFORCE, i got the PCM1704, if u want to get it, pls phone to me, u got my mobile no. right??

Hi Sir,
How about BB DIR1703 + AD1895 + AD1853 circuit connection.
The DIR1703 is too difficult to make all kind of sampling frequency.
If I only need 44.1/ 16 bit --> (up convert by 1895) to 192/24
How to connect.
Many Thanks.

do you think i havnt any way to got pcm1704 on hand?!
i have pcm1704j and 1704K!

i fact i want to design a DAC which can let the user choose re-clock or not, but i still reasching some information
from the data sheet, i think CS43122 have a higher preformance and simpler circuit, right?
so i want to do the design of cs43122
but it use balance output. i am thinking how to convert the balance out to RCA out.
i have find a circuit from AD, but i dont know is it good or not.
because it base on the AD- OP-amp to design, but i want to use TI 's op-amp. since TI's OP-amp can be gotten more easy!

Re: If you only want one sampling frequency.....
What Jocko said is right: you don't want the CS8420 just to do one frequency. It requires too many external components and generally a lot of bother.
Also I've built a DAC with 4x1704 and I've built another on with CS43122. The 1704 DAC sounds better.

Hi, nFORCE,
Connection of what u said is so easy. But the point is why u wanna do the upconvert(44.1-->192) ? It's useless to AD1853.
Digital filter of AD1853 will auto-scaling with the input data rate. For 32k-48k sampling data it's 8x oversampling, to 88.2-96k it's 4x oversampling, to 176.4-192k it's 2x oversampling. My mean is there is no advantage to upconvert the sampling rate to 192k for ad1853.
In this case the only advantage of ASRC is jitter isolation. If u wanna use a low jitter clock oscillator for ASRC chip.
So, my suggestion is convert the input sampling rate to 88.2k for cd playback.
I had built a dac with cs8414--cs8420--sm5847--pcm1702 last year. I using the cs8420 to convert every sampling rate into 44.1k. I'd try 48k, 88.2k, 96k. Do u know what i found out?
For cd playback, 44.1K is the best sampling rate of ASRC output!!!
BTW, how can u buy DIR1703?
I have cs8414, cs8420, SM5843, SM5847, PCM1702, PCM1704, AD1853, I wanna try DIR1703. Could u help me?

I am currently drawing the schematics for a DAC with 8420/DF1704/PCM1704, but I can not see the CS8420 on Your drawing. All pins of the leftmost IC in Your drawing have different names
than in the data sheet have . What did I miss?
all:
I am planning to build this set with the output stage of Nelson Pass' D1 converter. Any suggestions? I did read most of the related comments on this forum, and the PCM1704 seems to be top choice, but I am not sure about the SCR (CS8420 or AD1896+Receiver?)

I apologize! This schematic is actually using Burr-Brown DIR1703 for the receiver. I must have been confused. I will post the CS8420 schematic when I get home this evening.

So this is dir1703-df1704-pcm1704 schematic (if its that its useful to me, because i cant get cs8420 here🙂?
What are the differences between dir1703 and cs8420?
And whats the difference between df1704 and df1706 (i have some of these, and if there is a difference ill get df 1704), are pins the same with these two chips and connections and parts in our schematic are the same when using df1706?

Hi skaara. Sorry I didn't ever answer your email. I'm lazy.
Yes.
CS8420 includes a sample rate converter, while DIR1703 does not. However, both can be used for low-jitter SPDIF-to-serial receivers.
Also I think the DIR1703 is easier to integrate into the circuit because it requires fewer external parts.
The DF1706 runs from 3.3V supply. The DF1704 runs from 5V. As far as I know the 1706 is simply an evolution of the 1704. They are almost pin compatible if you use the correct voltage supply and pay attention to the x4 pin, which needs to be engaged for 192kHz operation.

The main difference seems to be the lack of pull-up/down resistors in the '06 to reduce current drain.

haha oops. you really have to read those footnotes to keep those B-B guys from sneaking one by you.
OK, let exchange.
Are you live in China? I goto Shenzhen every week.
Please email to me for details, if you can leave your mobile phone no, that good, +86 136XXXXXXX right?
I have 20 pcs of DIR1703 on hand. I can use 3-5 pcs for exchange.
Regards,
