I still have scanspeak 18w 5535 and d2905 9500 yweeter from my old car audio system. I wonder have anyone here got any experience with this driver? And how it compare with the newer midbass in discovery line?
I am looking for a new bookshelf project using these drivers as I am currently building lm3886 based amp to drive them.
At the current stakes, should I still use them 5545 or better of with the newer discovery line, or should I ditch them all and buy the sb acoustics driver instead?

Still some of the finest drivers around.
But if you're bored with the same old excellence, sell them to someone else and try to tame some new goodness.
It's the hobby, after all.

Halo boswald, I am with you on this. I will try to utilize my classic ss first. At my current knowledge level of speaker building. I really don't have enough confidence to pull off other driver combos that I don't familiar with. And off course the steep learning curve of the crossover making.
Digging through old thread here, I quite interested in troels gravesen compact monitor and audio excite m5, both are using 18w/8545.
I can manage to build the cabinets alright but I need a new crossover for the midbass, as my driver is the 18w5545 (the 4 ohm version?) I hope someone can chime in and help me on the crossover
