I've got the cabinets all done and am waiting for a crossover part and I'll be in business...
My grandfather builds the cabinets for me (MUCH more talented, and has more time/tools) and he commented that he needed to shave the sides of the tube it get it in there. I guess it is a pretty tight fit.

CptTripps, did you intentionally spell Columbus, OH wrong ....or is there another city called Columbis in Ohio?
and if so, are there hot girls in Columbis?
😉

Nich catch!
I guess the "i" was a little TOO close to the "U" key that day.
Even if there was a Columbis, we'd still kick Michigan's a$$...

ok, here we go. I'm not done with adding the speakers to the cabinets yet, but I thought I'd let yall see what the cabinets look like.
Here is a link to a folder on my web site...Enjoy.

You can see the port was the part that gave him (my grandfather) the most trouble. The port I selected was too large for the inside of the cabinet. But it IS big enough to bore out the inside of the cabinet. Time will tell if this was a bad move or not. (I used 3" PVC from Lowes)
the other part that I didn't notice was that I have no clearence for adding 'T' nuts for the speakers. this means I need to be extra careful when taking the speakers out. (I hope this isn't a problem)
I'll post more later. I shoul dhave them together later today...

ok, here's the poop on this speaker....
#1 - It sounds as strange as it looks. I'm not sure what it is about a tweeter being under a driver, but it changes the dynamics more than I thought it would. Standing up in the room you really do not notice it, but as soon as I sat down, It becomes VERY aparent.
#2 - These things completely evaporate. I'm serious. I'm not listening to them at all. Even my wife's initial reaction was 'wow'. The soundstage is a little twisted by the lower-mounted tweeter, so you don't really hear the speakers.
#3 - I needed to take a lot of the batting that I used out of there. I had about 1/4 of the bass that I'd expect from this cabinet. Yanked it and now I've got mucho-bass. 😉
More reviewing after a day of listening....Ask questions and I'll try to answer...

ok, after a day of tweaking....
I think these need a bigger room than I have. The spacial presence of these speakers is amazing. But I think they need to be moved about 12ft away from eachother to really make tham dance. I'm going to go to a local audio shop later today to play with them. I'll let yall know how it goes...

The filter of the opus is not terrible: (
Tested this 😉 :
1.5 Mh in series on the serious follow-up of a network RC of 1.5 ohms + 4.7uf.
On the acute one: Resistance at the beginning of filter of 2.2 ohms followed of a second order made up of 6.8 uf +0.39 mh followed of the second resistance in series of 1.5 ohms. The two HP are connected in phase 😉
Give to me your impressions 😉

After a week or so of listening to these, and getting friends and family to give them a listen I've got the following review.
If you listen to classical music...this is your speaker.
If you listen to jazz without vocals...this is your speaker.
If at any point in a song, someone opens their mouth and sings, this is NOT your speaker.
I'll play a classical piece, and the spacial detail of this speaker is uncanny. Compared to my ClonAc 2.5s and REAL Tablette 2000s, these image better than any of them, but the price you pay is thinking you need to turn your head upside down to listen to vocals. The tweeter on the bottom really drives me up a wall.
What will I do with these speakers? Home theater. With the voices coming out of the center channel, these will sound amazing. I think it is the perfect speaker for a home theater.
I'd like to have someone else build a set of these and give me their impressions. Or, I'd be happy to box them up and ship them to someone if they want to try them for a few weeks. Drop me an email.

Used the 'Opus' filter. I do not have the parts to use yours yet. Maybe later this week I'll pick them up.
Another thing to note is that these are VERY top-heavy. Even with spikes. I'm going to make a plinth for the bottom to bolt on and give some additional stability.
