I recently picked up a pair of Scan Speak 25W-8565. However, this particular pair does not seem to match any data sheet I can find. It appears to have a double magnet. See picture.
What am I missing? I am guessing this is an older driver. The dust cone protrudes, as well, unlike the 'flat' more recent version of this driver.
Any thoughts?

Update: I am guessing these are 'bucking' magnets. Sounds like they do nothing for speaker performance, etc. I think I may attempt to remove . . . . .
Looks like bucking magnets as said. There is no pole piece or back plate through them. Might have been glued on by whoever used them before. You might be able to knock them off.
The $64k question is whether it was closer to the -01 or -00 version before the factory stuck the bucking magnet on it. May just have to Woofer Tester it.
Could be fakes, plenty of second rate Chinese stuff being sold here.
8565-05 has zero results, -00 and -01 are reported as 10" woofers.
Or possibly custom OEM unit.

Where is the rest of the cabinet, or whatever the speaker came from.
Or any cartons etc.?
It seems to be a modified 10" woofer, first see about that.
Is it working?
Why do you need the information?

I bought these used. They were inexpensive because they are somewhat cosmetically challenged. I also bought a pair of the 15W-8531. The owner said they were in a large, wall mounted speaker but beyond that no details.Where is the rest of the cabinet, or whatever the speaker came from.

I actually have not tested them but that is part of the plan.
I am planning a 3-way, monkey coffin style speaker w both. I am relatively new to all of this so I am prepared to struggle a little. I actually was just hoping for a CAD file to facilitate mounting holes etc.
I do have a DATS tester and the plan is to run them through that.
I tried getting the extra magnets off but they appear to be on there pretty well.
I see no reason why the mounting holes would be any different from the -00 or -01. I’d just leave the magnets on there unless the depth was an issue. Probably not for a monkey coffin - it will end up being deeper than it is wide.
