Dear Experts,

I need your recommendation for pick the right components for create a high quality audio subs; it will be used for HT as well, but it's not my priority.
I have now a Crown XLS 1000 that I would like to use as amp, so I would have a not-too-sensible driver because that amp has got some hiss issue
I would use a MiniDSP for Room EQ (2x4HD or 2x8 don't know yet)
I want build 2 subs for a better distribution in the room
I have all the tools (UMIK-1, REW, etc.) for measurement.

I want match my 3.5 active speaker that roll off gently at ~120Hz, so the subs need to have some wide extension, 20 to 120

I was considering the Peerless 12" Aluminum Cone XXLS, then I've found the 30W/4558T00 and 32W/4878T00 from Scan Speak. I need the box (closed, filled with acousta polyfill) as small as possible. The driver will be floor facing

I did simulate the 32W and with a 60l box I can have an F3=34.8Hz, and the 30W a 55l box with F3=34.5Hz
Based on Madisound details, the Peerless give you and F3=45Hz in a 35l box, that it's F3=41Hz for the 30W and F3=42.5 for the 32W with a same size box

could you please help me with my doubts? 🙂

- is there any significant advantages to spend double money for the 32W? I need 2 of them so will be a lot...
- do you have any other drivers recommendations?
- since my focus is on music with natural and artificial deep bass (EDM, electro, reggae, etc.), what is the recommended F3?

any help will be really appreciated!!

cheers

Face,

not yet: I'm in a very early selection phase and I would like to drill down more on the driver "short list"
I like your proposal, it covers many of my goals

The L26ROY is 10": I'm not an expert, but I read that you need 12"+ (they say 18" but I don't have space for it) for a good air movement and that PR are not "too musical" and are fit only for HT... but company like Sonus Faber use them, so I'm puzzled

thanks!

cheers
