I have heard that motor with the Be dome and it is VERY nice. VERY wide dispersion. It will need lots of room to the side to sound it's best, or heavy room treatment. This is the motor Magico uses as the basis for their tweets now. Earlier they used the XT25 ring radiator (or SS equivalent) as well.
I'm not sure about the distortion towards the bottom end though, others will have to comment on whether 1.5kHz is a good point for it. For SURE, you could mate both of these at 2kHz. 🙂

I did a little informal survey, my own estimates are that retail is 10x driver cost. Of course, this varies quite a bit, with some bargains like Fritz, and some outrageously high brands like Wilson. When I have been able to compare though, 10x is IMHO the center of the trend line.

I should say 10x is the middle of the trend line for commonly available middle to high end parts. I'm sure that there are a thousand far east manufacturers who make $1 drivers. Manufacturers who use them are not what I'm talking about.

Yes Erik, I presume that the trend would be more like towards the ratio you were mentioning. So much better for the DIYers segment of the market.
