SB15NRXC30-8 tweeter suggestions?

Hi.
Looking for suggestions on tweeters to a 2way build with SB acoustics sb15nrxc30-8 woofers.
Does anyone have any experience with these woofers?

I only find suggestions of MTM builds with them. But only have two so would be Great to find a god match.

If you use a ~2.5kHz crossover with at least LR2 slope, the SB21SDC-4 dome tweeter looks attractive because its smaller dome diameter reduces beaming.

The SB26STCN-4 uses a NdFeB motor for a smaller physical case size, which can reduce center-to-center spacing, which will can reduce lobing effects.

BW3 circuits at ~2.5kHz on the tweeter and midwoofer produce constant power and might avoid needing L-R-C filters.

Edge diffraction distortion can be reduced by using bevels/rounds, and modest off-center mounting of the tweeter.

I have a pair of Fountek NeoCD1 ribbon tweeters at hand. Would that work with the sb15nrxc30-8?

It could be made to work but not well. The SB has a relatively hard cone with strong resonances which need to be suppressed indicating a relatively low crossover frequency. The small ribbon in the Fountek needs to be crossed over high at 3.5 kHz if not higher.

AudioExcite tested the Fountek NeoCD1 and reached this conclusion:

"Compared to a 1” dome tweeter, this small ribbon tweeter has a considerably higher distortion profile. It should preferably be crossed-over at 5kHz or higher, but a 4kHz cross-over point might work if steep filters are used, e.g. a fourth-order (acoustical)."

SO, you might want to simulate LR4 / LR4 crossovers at 3.5kHz with your sb15nrxc30-8 and Fountek NeoCD1

I would take a look at the SB26STAC. It is what I ended up choosing to pair with the SB15NAC30-8, which is very similar to your SB15NRXC30-8. The distortion profile is relatively good even at lower frequencies which should help. That's the reason I chose the SB26STAC over the SB29RDC, because the SB29RDC has a large distortion increase around 1 kHz.

The dayton RS28 series might be worth a look too, and the SB26ADC if you're interested in an aluminum tweeter.

Will look into that tweeter.

What did you build? 🙂

hi there I have the same 5inc mid bass drivers .. are you suggesting a crossover point of 2.5khz would be best for this woofer and a small tweeter / I will be using the sb neodymium tweeter with small 72mm faceplate I cannot find the frequency range for the sb woofers I only bought them because they were half price in a sale .. so i don't know if they are good
