SB Acoustics TW29BN, compared with other beryllium tweeters?

Tlab looks delicious, love to hear more thoughts (I'm finding something which are possibly overall better than top-notch AMT/ribbons, and Tlan Be caught my eyes). They also have some cheaper version, made of carbon fiber...

I don't know about better than top AMT's. and I have no ribbons to compare to. 🙂

As other designers have said, application matters. Dome's certainly radiate differently than planar tweeters.

The Mundorf AMT's are world class in terms of frequency, sensitivity, distortion, lack of energy storage and lack of compression. The more the merrier, especially if cheaper. 🙂

Best,

Erik

I have a pair of original great heil AMT coming in...
I'll put them side by side to my Tlabs Be. once they arrive.

Not sure how better are the mundorf and the Beyma150TPL but I think that the ESS will be a good comparison to be made.
If the ESS AMT perform good, I may buy my friend Beyma 150TPL (what I heard was good but his system is so different than mine that I can't really comment, he use line array and ice power...)

Directivity will be very different on the AMT and I'm not sure that the AMT have the very high end resolution above 5Khz.

The small scanspeak may look good but the QTS is very high and 0.2mm xmax is kind of limiting...

Correction. No IcePower but gainclones. Beyma TPL150 is the best tweeter I ever heard. Much more dynamic than any dome or ribbon and can easily be cut at 1.5khz@12dBoct without any significant distortion. 3D resolution is amazing when used as a dipole.
