SB Acoustic MW19PN & MW19TX direct comparison in the same enclosure

The colored polars jcga posted show Allen's point I guess. The TX shows quite irregular off axis response from 2k upwards. Then again, the polar response below 2k seems to come out somewhat better. I'd say: use it up to 2k with a higher order lowpass.

@jcga:

Any chance that you could please post your MW19TX distortion measurement? I have been waiting to see it.

Also, you say the 1kHz issue has been fixed with the TX. Can you give your opinion on that in a little more detail. From the heatmaps you posted in your first post, it looks like something is still going on with the TX version, but is slightly better compared to the P version. Perhaps this is your cabinet that is producing the broadening you measured? It is also showing up in the CSD plot in post #15. If you look at the MFG frequency response plots, the TX and P versions are very different around 1kHz, with the TX having a broad rise in that region and the P having an S-shaped deviation. I want to use this driver to at least 2kHz (potentially) so I am very interested in knowing the behavior in this frequency region.

Here you are, made in the exact same conditions as previous posts.

Well, I was a bit short in my previous answer. You are right, there is still some deficiencies here and there but it has been somewhat improved if you are comparing with the papyrus version. In particular, you can't see it on the impedance curve anymore.

At the end, I have chosen a LR4 at 2 kHz instead of 2.5 kHz for the MW19PN, but I think that 1.5 kHz would have been better. Unfortunately, it is not possible with the Bliesma T25B.
Hope this help
