Hello,
I ve found out that a company called "Guangzhou Sanway" (yes it sounds like China and it is China) is doing "copies" of LAB designs (FP-Series) and selling via alibaba at > 80% discount compared to the original. At this price level I am tempted just out of curiosity...
I wonder if anybody has heard of Sanway? Is it legal for them to do so? If not, are there any lawsuits going on? Wolud it be illegal to buy one unit? Is the sound quality / power output comparable to the original (same schematic or just same visual design?). Is it crap, like many - but not all - things coming out of China? In other words - what issues can be expected, if, for example, LAB FP10000Qs, are replaced by Sanway products in an existing PA setup?

Oh good. Another offshore company that copies somebodies IP, use cheap, perhaps counterfeit parts, and engages in a "race to the bottom" pricing.
Will it work when you get it? Maybe.
Will it meet the same specs? Maybe
Will they offer returns if/when the product doesn't work? Maybe.
Will it be as reliable as the original? Maybe.

The worst hit with the economic slowdown is China , they made everything for the west , dirt cheap , its the traders the walmarts who made a killing selling it at an inflated cost to the common man & bargained with the chinese hard right through out
Due to the iron curtain and them being behind times in many ways they could not establish companies to bring in their goods directly to the west
Today there are no takers , they are in tremendous need of orders , therefore the copies ....
they want to make and sell - whatever sells - and the low prices - well the traders - have always been bargaining to reduce costs , pricing is a big issue with them
there is no Apple or Mac who will understand that if you have a good product - it will sell on the product value and the pricing is not a key issue

Yeah, they copied LAB's technology (class "TD", that consists more or less of 2 fast-moving buck converters in series with a class AB linear post-filter). BUT: I 've heard that LABs patent has just expired, so we can argue that they do so legally. Is that right?
