Great Discussions!

We only have 26 letters in English.

Consider the letter u for an example:
dBu
u, as in the mu of a triode,
u, as in the mu of a screen grid to the control grid.
That is three uses of u, anything else . . .

Health Care
Aircraft Carriers
(not in that order)

In 1966 and 1967 I was on a Fletcher Class US Naval Destroyer (you have to go out on deck, exposed to the weather and incoming ordinance, just to travel fore and aft).
We did plane guard for the carriers in the Gulf of Tonkin (Vietnam). And we skittered less than 2000 yards from the shore, all along the coast of North Vietnam.
Nothing on the destroyers and nothing on the carriers of today was anything like it was back in 1966 and 1967 . . .
Not the ships, not the sailors, and not the conditions and battles of the times.

History is not exactly repeating itself. Instead, we are making completely new mistakes to be repeated by later generations.

I Always support Veterans, from the past, and currently serving Veterans as well.

Health Care is a political football, and a 5th rail as well.

Just my Inflated $0.03.

You and I actually get free nationalized Socialist health care in America, from the VA, and it's great, but don't tell anybody or they'll take it away. Nixon, of all people, tried to move America to national health insurance, but it was too late. The downside of surviving WWII relatively unscathed is the powerful grandfather effect of the post-War policy inertia, and our cultural beer goggles about that era. Polititians are still selling us that same old song. Places more scarred by the war had less inertia and started with a cleaner slate than America. Here, there's too much money involved to change things now. Oh, well.

All good fortune,
Chris
