Hi, I have one of the blow out SACD-1000 players that I picked up in Dec 2002. It's still under warranty, but after searching on the web I found out that Philips refuses to fix them any more and offers a replacement for a current model. That is not acceptable to me based on physical build quality alone, not mentioning the outstanding sound of SACD reproduction. The Philips factory service centers recently closed down. I read that the one in Florida was especially good at fixing the 1000.
Mine started to freeze up a month ago, and now it won't boot. It just shows the word "boot" on the display and makes a mechanical noise on power up. I figured out the diagnostic sequence (hold "stop" and "open tray" on boot up). I can follow a set of steps which ends in a self check. I get the error code "fail 120002".
Any of you guys know what might be the problem and where can I get it fixed?

check with Alex Peychev at www.aplhifi.com. I don't think anyone know more about this machine than him.

Re SACD1000 repair
Hello Amir,
I have also had your problem. In fact one of my machines was replaced with another SACD1000 by the vendor, but it still developed the same problem.
I sent the machine to Alex Peychev for repairs last October and he still has not returned it, nor has he made good on his promises to send a fixed machine to me after many expensive telephone calls and endless emails.
The guy is a charmer. He seems to know what he is doing electronacally, at least by reputation. But his customer service quite frankly stinks.
If I sound rude, I do so because I am so frustrated with Philips and Alex Peychev that I could scream. I also want to prevent any unknowing further victims.
So, be careful if you deal with the guy.

Thanks for the suggestion, Boochies.

Yup, I saw your post. Looks like you are not the only one having problems with Alex. Hope all is well with him & he tries to change the way he deals with his customers.
