how much of a difference in sound quality will be audible from running a subwoofer at 2ohm instead of 4ohm off of an amp. THD is 1% and .1% respectively. thanks
In my experience, it depends on the amplifier running it. Obviously from a power perspective, you get more of it running 2 ohms and therefore higher SPL, the issue is that at 2 ohms, there are few amplifiers that will drive that load with enough definition.
Not knowing your amp, I'd go for 4 ohms just to be humane to the amplifier.
If you are all about slam... You can try the 2 ohm loading provided the amp does not go kaput...

Not much. There will be increased distortion and reduced damping at resonance. Personally I feel that running at 2 ohms is not a good idea because as well as the quality suffering the current drain becomes enormous.
the amps im looking at are the behringer europower 2500 and the samson s2000.....the behringer will put out 2400w @4ohm bridged mono, while the samson will put out 2000@8ohm bridged mono...
I do not really want added distortion in this subwoofer setup, however the samson amplifier is twice as expensive as the behringer... so if there is not a huge amount of audible difference I would like to opt for the behringer.

How about a Crown K2. It specs out at 1250 watts per channel into a 2ohm load, and 2500 watts bridged mono into a 4 ohm load with a THD of 0.1% or less. I don't what the price difference between the two amps you listed and the Crown are, but the Crown is one hell of an amp for the $$.
