Here's another thing that concerns me about these little switchers. It is echoed in this thread and post by @nigel pearson about the Meanwell RS-50-24:

The XP Power, like the Meanwell, do not like either output being connected to mains earth. That includes any connection to it via signal ground in other gear. I had to float the input on the spec an to get a good measurement. Otherwise noise above the switiching freq increases dramatically. If connected near the output, the thing just screams.

I also replaced the switcher with a Power One 15V open frame linear supply and the sound quality improved significantly.
