... Helga!!!
Helga!!! is a portable Audio system put together in almost no time to provide some music at our campsite at the Mera Luna festival in Hildesheim, Germany... 🙂
Helga!!! is based on a set of Heco "Professional 450" 3-way speakers built around 1977, with a 19mm dome tweeter, a 38mm dome midrange driver and a 200mm woofer. For details see:
Professional 450 Speaker-P Heco Hennel + Co., Pulheim, build
I saved them from being scrapped a few years ago, and despite their age they still sound quite impressive, with the frequency response being acceptable even by today's standards:

They are really heavy and seem to have some decent built quality. As the outside of the cabinets was somewhat battered already, I completely wrapped the outside in Gaffa tape and added some plastic corners to make them a little more rugged.
Helga!!! is driven by a Sony car amplifier also saved from scrap, surprisingly it consumed only approx. 1A for 2 channels at normal listening volume. Power comes from a DIY powerpack based on 12V/7Ah SLA batteries.
It doesn't always need to be highest-fi to have fun! 😀

nice! you would not have the crossover schematics for the speakers by any chance, just curious...
I'd have to take out the woofers and trace the crossover boards by hand - probably it's easier to find them somewhere on the internet...

Hey Rundmaus! Nice stuff for the Mera 😉 I’m living nearby Hildesheim and missed this time to go to the festival. Probably forthe not-germans you should explain the name "Helga!!!" or it wouldn't be as funny as it is 🙂
Greetings!
Greetings!
For the non-German readers, maybe this will provide some insight into the 'Helga' culture 😉

First 'HELGAAA!' screams started right when we entered the campsite and carried the loudspeakers to our tent. 🙂
