Rubber for baffle cover?

Hi Steve

Rubber will damp box vibrations a little, but will probably not help much for high frequency dispersion problems as it has a smooth surface.

But hey try it, it will probably look good, ( and different!), which may be important to your application, and it would be interesting to hear your results.

I have used rubberised flooring material for the finish of the rear of my main speakers in a composite construction of MDF and concrete , and this works well😉

Hi,

I’ve used standard 5mm neoprene rubber foam sheet material for covering the front baffle of speaker boxes and that worked pretty well to get rid of high frequency corner reflections. Also no need to flush-mount the tweeters then.
