I agree for AD827, - it was long time first choice for the really best Rotel awarded product such is RA-970BX integrated amp and early versions of preamps.
As for diodes, the pointed Schottkies works very fine, both in digital and analogue domaine of the player.
Expensive though, compared to other with similar specs 8but not sound)
