I have an integrated amp Rotel RA-1520 that I'm using as a preamp for the F5 Turbo V2.

But I'd like to have a dedicated preamp for F5 T V2, after seeing the market are very expensive.

I was thinking pramp dedicated Rotel RC-1550, but my doubt is whether it will be very different preout amplifier I use Rotel RA-1520.

He liked of your views.

Happy New Year to all.

thank you

Are all of your sources modern? No reel to reel, vinyl, cassette, etc? Is your loudest listening at less than half way on your current setup? If so, all you need is a source selector, volume control and maybe a buffer or two. You'll find that the volume knob setting will probably be higher than you are used to, but if you get loud enough to satisfy at 100% or less, who cares?

You might want to take a look at the "Lightspeed" volume control. Stepped attenuators or good quality pots are suitable for the volume control function. Twisted Pear Audio has relay controlled stepped attenuators and Dantimax (elektronik) - Selectors_-_attenuators has remote controllable selector and attenuator options.

Check out B-1, mesmerize, diamond buffer and "Passive Preamp" designs if you need a buffer. How do you know if you need a buffer? Most modern sources will drive an F5 (of any flavor) through a 10K+ attenuator without any problem, but if your cable runs are long you might want to add a buffer after the volume control. Leave room in the case for a buffer and its power supply if you aren't sure. Some say that the buffer improves the sound even though it is not strictly necessary.

If you need some gain, look at any of the Pass designs like SOZ, Aleph P, the BA-3 front end or a Pumpkin (Pass inspired, look in Zen Mod's signature line for links)
