Rotary Encoder for Cyrus Pre XPD

I'm trying to find a replacement for this encoder out of a Mission Cyrus Preamp.
Cyrus don't respond to emails. Hoping to find something in the RS/E14/Mouse/Digikey range but I cannot even identify the manufacturer. Does this picture ring any bells for anyone?.

That's an odd-looking beast. Looks quite oldschool.

Did you find any clues as to how one might open the thing? A majority of mechanical encoder failures are from non-conductive silicone bearing goop making its way onto the contact surface and messing up the contact there. You can generally clean up the mess and things start working fine again.

Not possible (without pulling it apart) to determine how many steps as it has no detents. Will pull it apart and clean it up if I cannot find a replacement, but ATM, replacement is my first preference. Thanks for your replies.

I ended up using one of these :
EC12E2430803 | Alps Alpine 24 Pulse Incremental Mechanical Rotary Encoder with a 6 mm Flat Shaft (Not Indexed), Through Hole | RS Components
Alps EC12E2430803
By no means a perfect fit but the bushing was the right size and the shaft length
more or less ok (had to put a 2.5mm packer down the knob hole to get it dead right)
One of the mounting tabs could be bent backwards as an antirotation device.
That said, it worked perfectly and felt good and for $3, nobody was complaining.
