Roland JC-40 Mod

The below is my first post. Cal suggested I post here in addition to introductions:

Hello All

This is my first post. I'm a guitar player and DIYer. I've been doing set-ups, repairs and mods on guitars for many years. I've done pickup, switch and pot replacements and full rewiring projects, so I can solder. I've also built speaker cabinets, but in terms of electronics, I'm not on the level of those posting here.

I read the post about the Roland JC-120 clone with interest.

I'ver been using Acoustic Image heads for years. They sound great, but although they're rated at 350 watts, they're class D, and they don't seem as loud as a Roland JC-120.

I'm currently in Japan playing gigs, and I've been using a JC-90, which sounds great and seems to be much louder than my AI heads.

Unfortunately, it was never available in the USA, and is now discontinued. The JC-120 is available, but is too big and heavy for me, and the JC-40 is available but is not powerful enough for some gigs.

The JC-90 uses 2 10" speakers and appears to be the same size as the JC-40. I'm wondering if there is a practical way of increasing the wattage of the JC-40 to around 80 to 100 watts. If necessary, I can replace the Eminence speakers with higher power handling ones.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

russgtr here posting again. I realize I can tap the line outputs into additional power amps thus simply bypassing the on board power amps, but I’d rather modify the existing PCB and preserve the classic JC sound, if possible.
