The devices in the heat sinks you have circled are positive and negative voltage regulators.

I need the board location, but its either a LM317 or LM337.

my LM317 gets too hot to connect the amplifier ... why?

It is normal for those to run very hot. The 2 you have circled run hotter than the rest also.

The problem is that the amplifier is protected and to connect the LM317 is heated way too .... What could it be?

Never power this amp up without the heat sink soldered in place for the voltage regulators. They will quickly overheat and fail.

What does or doesn't this amp do?

What is wrong with the amp?

Is it in protect?

checking the amp is in good condition throughout. The source, outputs, etc all be fine but stops when connecting the amplifier LM317 regulator protects and warms

What can be the cause?

* some integrated circuit will be damaged?

I'm working on one of these amp right now. I'm having similar issues as described in the first post.

SeanKane, do you have the schematic for the pre-amp board? I contacted RF, but they could find only the schematic for the rest of the amplifier (not the pre-amp) 🙁

I'll look but I don't think so, Usually if you replace the op-amps on the board that will cure your problems, if they are like my original post problems.
