Thanks for starting this Chris. I have had the utmost respect and awe for Robbie since I was a boy and my cousin played the record Music from Big Pink. I was hooked.
Your music will live on forever in our hearts and through our speakers Robbie.

Fell in love with his wordsmithery all over again with Somewhere Down the Crazy River.

I followed the sound of a jukebox coming from up the levee
All of a sudden, I could hear somebody whistling from right behind me
I turned around, and she said
"Why do you always end up down at Nick's Cafe?"
I said, "Uh, I don't know, the wind just kinda pushed me this way"
She said, "Hang the rich"

You might remember that was one of the songs I use to audition speakers including at VanIsleFests.

Personally, I rename the song:

Somewhere Down the Fraser River. (locals will understand)

The documentary: Once were Brothers, is a great flick. Recommended watching for sure.

I listened to "The Band" (1969) three times in a row this evening. Robbie was a brilliant songwriter.

Cal, I indeed have vague remembrances of that era. I think we all jointly compile an entire afternoon’s demo playlist from recent members of the RIP club.

To me he was a man with the heart at the right place.
His commitment reverberates in all his work and Music for The Native Americans is a good example.
