RIP Vangelis

Coincidentally just a few weeks ago after haven't listened to his music for ages I had a call for a Vangelis listening session going through a bunch of his greatest creations.. thank you Vangelis for the legacy.

I have all of his albums. A couple of weeks ago bought a DVD of "The Year Of Living Dangerously", which I saw on TV years ago, prompted by the death of Evángalos.
I was thoroughly exhausted and struggling to stay awake while watching it.
There was a particular piece of music that I liked but took me years to track down as the tracklist is credited to Maurice Jarre, but the bit I liked was by Vangelis but uncredited.

Used very well here:-

Did anyone notice, as I did, that the Replicant, Roy Batty is holding a Bird in his hand throughout the Scene?

He only releases it at the end.

I leave you to your own conclusions.

A bird which is very probably (bio)mechanical, which makes Roy's sentence at 0:40 ('quite an experience to live in fear isn't it? That's what it is to be a slave') even darker.

At the 15th times ( approximately, i've lost track of how many times i've seen it... there is too much version of it!) it occured to me there is no human being in good health remaining on earth and i never spoted a children in any scene ( but i might have missed it as i'm always attracted by the action), only replicants are young and healthy. Not only animals have disapeared.

Really the soundtrack is masterpiece. Nothing cheesy even 30 years after. And still inspiring.
