Status Quo were big fans of Chuck Berry often copying his style.
They met him a few times.
Seems a bit odd he dies the same year as Rick Parfitt from Status Quo.

When NY's #2 classical music station (WNCN) was bought and switched formats, they played "Roll Over Beethoven" as the place changed hands.

He stole the kids away from jazz and killed the big bands.

Ah man, that's a bummer. Even though I haven't played his music in years I always like him ever since Maybellene. And that was before I could drive. Well, he did live a long life.
In 1956 there was an AM radio station in Houston that would play Black & White Rock & Roll acts. I discovered R&R on KILT-AM on my Dad's car radio, running down the battery when he was home on Saturdays. We moved to Houston in April,56.
Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Little Anthony, Frankie Lymon, on the same station as Carl Perkins, Bill Haley, and Buddy Holly. I couldn't tell who was what color, & I didn't care. It was great!
I'm glad Mr Berry lived long enough to know what a legend he was. R&R Hall of Fame and all those.
Then in 1959 R&R died, and Pat Boone & Fabian took over the radio. It took the popularity of FM to get CB back in the middle of the dial again.

All the others are pale copies, and off course Elvis the first which was a version for old virgins and cows breeders !

Chuck Berry has duck walked off the stage, after 90 years, the father, maybe the rightful king, of rock and roll is gone. The music will live on far far beyond his lifetime though. Thank you Mr. Berry.

When Chuck Berry Became a Beach Boy | Mental Floss
Beach Boys ripped Surfin USA from Berry's "Sweet Little Sixteen." To avoid lawsuit, they gave Berry the copyright to Surfin USA. So he is credited as the composer, and got all the royalties. Sometimes Beach Boys sang 'Sweet Little Sixteen' lyrics on Surfin USA.
