So, I'm doing a bit of a tidy so I can actually get a job done rather than moving parts around, and got to wonderinghoe I ended up with a few of these parts, and what the hell I'm going to eventually do with them ! 🙂
Ive no idea what I'm going to use a 200w load for, less still 26A at 12vac
So, show me a photo of your ridiculous components!

26A 12v AC is useful for under floor/earth heating in a greenhouse. Use 20 SWG or thinner Stainless Iron wire as is has resistance and doesn't rust. Lay about 40yards about 10" under the surface and watch those summer plants grow in the winter, keeping the roots warm.
That's pretty handy to know actually - what sort of length wire are we talking here?
I'd considered using it as a transfo for anodising aluminium...
Edit - re read and the answer is there. 🙂

I've got two 100w 8 ohm dummy loads that are very big physically, but they do get use from time to time.
The attached is probably the most ridiculous in my parts collection 🙂

That's the Lemont Sanford resistor.
An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

Don't forget you want enough resistance so as not to 'cook' the roots!
Over half of my collection would be considered ridiculous by most people, including my wife. UH, to start with at one time I had collected over 100,000 vacuum tubes, about 2,000 pounds of transformers, and enough other weird stuff to build the Star Wars Death Star! I had lived in the same house for 37 years, and had several rental spaces full of stuff.
Then both of my parents passed, and we got to clean out their house. My wife's step father passed, and her mother was terminally ill, and we got to clean out their house. I had worked in the same place for about 39 years at the time, and most of the old timers were being laid off.......It became obvious that some downsizing was in order, since neither of us wanted (or could afford) to stay in big city Florida once my number came up in the "lay off lottery."
I sold, gave away or trashed stuff over a two year period until my number came up. By that time we could manage moving most of the stuff......
What kind of stuff??? Well one picture shows some of it. Here you will see one of my experiments. The only thing in that picture that I didn't move 1200 miles, was the huge 1500 volt 500 mA power supply that is sitting on its side. I had 3 of those at 75 pounds each. Nobody wanted them for free, so they went to the metal scrap guy. The load resistor, 8 ohms 500 watts, I have 3....I also have several of those gold anodized 250 watters. I still have about 10,000 vacuum tubes. Ridiculous enough?????
