I took a quick look, and the article is about a screen-driven driver for output tubes like the 845.

845 is a directly heated triode. No screen grid.
Perhaps you could post a schematic?

I used the 5881 screen driven; i had tried many circuits but could never get good dynamics; the amp was transformed had very good dynamics. The 845 in my amp had 750 volts so made it very easy to use the screen driven 5881. Most 845 commercial amps i have heard sound very dull and lifeless. My speakers are over 100db so do not need any more power the screen driven 5881 works very well with 813's too
