How are members providing a return path for DIY ribbon drivers?
I am not satisfied with the idea of connecting wires to the top and bottom of the driver. I feel such a solution would be very susceptible to noise. In addition, this solution does not address the magnetic field generated around the return loop.
Using two ribbons (current might go up in the left ribbon and down in the right ribbon) with a symmetrical magnetic circuit (ie S - ribbon UP - N ribbon DOWN - S) would provide a return path, however the coupling between the two ribbons isn't exactly ideal. They will be attracted and repelled from each other (depending on direction of current), possibly creating a rocking motion.
Any thoughts?
