Hi Salas,
Actually, this is using the original compression style connectors. The same that separated back into 2 pieces. The compression on the connection is not compromised...still looks very tight....I also noticed that I was probably hearing more of the soundstage because it seemed much quieter, likely a benefit from the shielding.

Good for you. Your experiment turned subjectively to a success. Congrats. Any pics?

For all that are following, I ordered some of Vampire's base RCA plugs (about $15 for a set of 4) to try the solder method and compare. At the least, they will not compare apart in two pieces like the compression connectors.

I also did some more listening, but this time through my Spica TC-50s. Again, I get a good impression of acoustic guitars coming through and a tad bit more bass.

Here's something interesting. Last fall I changed the spade connectors on my Kimber 4TCs. When I stripped the teflon insulation, I could tell oxidation had set in. So I cut 2 inches...the same! So now I'm curious to see if the same thing is happening to my PBJs! Perhaps oxidation of the copper has started and having an affect on the sound.

The Belden center conductor was very nice and shiny, of course. More comments to come (and photos).
