I've just acquired another ReVox B77 (standard-speed). This has the older power supply board with the uA78M20 regulator chip and discrete diode rectifier.
Since the capacitors have to be swapped as a matter of course (I'll put in bigger ones than the originals) at the same time, is there any notable advantage to replacing the semiconductors with the LM317 regulator and beefier rectifiers, as on later model B77s ?
It's an easy swap, but is there any sonic or performance difference?
