Does it do some PCM conversion to dsf files or what's the process?Yes it does.
Good question, because DSD can’t be pocessed.Does it do some PCM conversion to dsf files or what's the process?
To be honest I tried to play a .dsf file over my PCM Dac and could adjust the volume. But since I don’t have a native DSD player, I’m in doubt.

A while ago I converted some of my PCM to dsf using sox-dsd. The lack of digital volume control at playback made the listening quite awkward as my analog amp does not have remote control. The availability of digital volume control is one of my reasons for using PCM2DSD.
... I would like to tread carefully here as this is IMHO ... but to my ears JRiver is not in the same league as HQPlayer. Less detail, more congested, less resolution etc. .. I have not (yet?) had the opportunity to compare the PCM2DSD board with either of these softwares.

NO, tried in other system with the same result.@merlin el mago
It's your opinion with your system, we already talked about it...

... One more comment in relation to JRiver that I forgot ... IMO one advantage of JRiver is that it may work as a streaming software and then the JRiver stream may be convoluted through HQPlayer (I hope I used the right word). In this way it should be possible to play back music streams using HQPlayer as the DSD processor (information courtesy Koldby who mentioned this is a PM, I think). I reckon something similar may also be possible with Roon.

It made all the dynamic transients and low level details in music smaller too. So its worse dither for the listeners, who couldn't hear the tiny spurs in the first place.Instead of just shifting the spurs in frequency, the improved dithering made them smaller. I think that's the most important improvement, because any signal or offset in the programme to be played through the DAC will modulate the momentary frequency anyway.
Hi Mark , soon as the 1632 active filter is run in I’m going to try the latest firmware , I currently have two pcm2dsd here so it makes comparisons quick and easy
