Resistors in Metal Film Capacitor Clothing

Has anyone ever come across resistors that you would swear are film caps? Have a look, and YES it is in fact a resistor.

Now begs the question, what type of material. Any info or educated guesses someone may be able to provide is always appreciated!

I'd be checking it with an ohmmeter, just to be certain. Must be a special purpose design, or perhaps it is a RC snubber.

Agree, check with ohm meter. A snubber or other similar little network is a good guess.

Plenty of guys are fooled the other direction, the little ceramic caps that look just like 1/4w resistors.

As I said, it is in fact a resistor. It's hard to make out in the pic but it even says 100Ω on it.

2PCs Nikkohm RP-44 3.3K 0.1% 0.25W METAL FILM RESISTORS Audion 1/4W AMP DAC 3k3 | eBay

thin film, non - inductive , non- magnetic have in theory
better noise specyfications if compare with thick technology resistors.
The very low temperature coefficient and 0,01 % tolerance cost much more no doubt.

I'll have a look on eBay, and look for a local vendor. The application is not very price sensitive.

Economic alternative if compare with Caddock or Z-foil TCC or Vishay resistors.
Ok they are different that interesting
