Though this is not strictly DIY, people here are so good at sourcing different bits and pieces for audio gear I thought that someone might be able to point me in the right direction.
I recently purchased a Pro-ject 1.2 TT from Ebay to tide me through some DIY projects involving a TT and some speakers. Despite some wonderful packing on the part of the seller the PO still managed to damage it. The dust cover has a major crack in the back near one of the inserts for the hinges. It clearly happened in transit, as the crack is not visible in the pictures from the auction.
It was all insured, but the problem is that the 1.2 turntable was discontinued a few years ago, and Sumico in California doesn't think/know if it can be replaced, either by old stock or from another model that matches it.
Does anyone have a clue if the dustcovers from other Pro-ject models may fit, or if there's a suitable replacement out there somewhere? It's not like I keep the cover on when I play it, but I paid good money for the TT and it's just taken a hit in resale value, so I figure the PO should ante up one way or the other.
Thanks in advance.....Tim

stephen Bishop, try to find a brochure of Project turntables and see their dimensions. If one of the new models has the same as yours, then it is almost certain that their dustcovers is the same.I'll try also to find this information for you here,Project's importer is a good friend.

Hi Efthimios,I have asked about Project 1.2 dustcover, and they want to know dimensions of the cover and distance between hinges(centre to centre). Can you send this information?

Hi there,
It turns out that Pro-ject used the very same dust cover for the Expression model, as well as the Debut III, so there is no problem replacing it. In fact I have just put the order in for it.
For those with the table, it might be worth bearing in mind for future replacement issues. Cost is $30, plus shipping, but don't do it through Sumico, who are absolutely useless and started this whole runaround a week ago via their own ignorance and continued on with their unhelpful ways over the last couple of days.
If anyone needs the cover, get it through someone like Spindoctor.com - they handled it in minutes, and quoted me $10 shipping via UPS - Sumico quoted $25 via the same carrier. Nice.
Thanks for the help.............Tim
