replacing 2N5880, 2N5882 Powertransistors?

Hi!

I have an old power amp that needs to have its power transistor exchanged.
I'm pretty new to the electronic business so I don't really know what to look for.
xeye
It is a 2 channeled amp witch yields 4 transistors the current setting is per channel:

1 PNP 2N5880 (transistor T16 on the schematic below)
Bipolar PNP Device in a Hermetically Sealed TO3 Metal Package - Pol=PNP / Pkg=TO3 / Vceo=80 / Ic=15 / Hfe=20-100 / fT(Hz)=4M / Pwr(W)=160

1 NPN 2N5882 (transistor T15 on the schematic below)
COMPLEMENTARY SILICON HIGH-POWER TRANSISTORS

They work as a pair.
And is using 50-60 DCV

Is there a good substitute for good audio performance. I mean the semiconductor business has made progress since 1979.

I dont know if it would be helpful but any way:

Best Regards!🙂

Possible candidates:

MJ 15003 - NPN 140V 20A 250W
MJ 15004 - PNP 140V 20A 250W

Same TO-3 package, overkill devices, better in any aspect. Not really expensive. Most certainly the quiescent current will change after you replaced the 2N's, so be careful.
