Guys I'm trying to repair an amplifier that has the BC182C in the first stage of the amplifier.
I can only seem to get them for China. Is there a UK equivalent and if so which is better?

I think ZTX 450 will fit. I have both ZTX 450 and a BC182 - I just measured them - both of them Hfe approx. 300. Ft 150Mhz for both...5 v difference in Vceo.
BC546 / BC547 / BC548/ BC 182 nose typ. 2db , max 10db (big tolerance gap)
BC550 - typ. 1,4db max 4db
Not so small noise when compared to BC 550 ...
I think in the power amplifier there will be no difference ... because there will be 50-150 uV noise at the output, depending on the ground design etc...

The original is BC182C in the differential power amplifier stage. Reason for replacement is very high dc offset
ZTX is not so bad - look at the last post in this topic. Yes - reverse pin out. Nelson Pass uses these.

So is the ZTX450 as noisy or more noisy than the original BC182C? Thanks
BC546 the B version has HFE between 200-450 which seems to fit better to original.
