Replacement for 2SK1058&2SJ162

Not too bad a price in Avnet.com ~$5 each! I tried to order some 2SK1058 6 days ago & to avoid the international shipping of $25 was getting them posted to a fellow DIYA inmate for onward postage to me in Ireland.

But they have many security questions to answer when placing an order & didn't like the address of the card holder being different to the delivery address - haven't heard from them since they emailed me about this.

Must be because we are all terrorists in Ireland!

No need to be paranoid. It's a precaution against identity theft -- buying stuff with a stolen credit card number. I've found a number of internet retailers who won't take an order when the shipment and payment addresses are different. They have probably been burned several times already.

Ah Sam,
Don't pick me up wrong - I was joking (that's all Ireland's past history, hopefully). I do understand Avnet's need to guarantee the credentials of buyers but have you gone through their ordering process recently?
Compared to Mouser or Digikey it's a nightmare of bureaucracy, with a hundred & one questions assuring that the parts will not be used in weapons, etc.
My order has disappeared from view - no order exists when I query it on their site! ?????????

Anyway, I thought they were cheap, thelordash - no?

Oh, BTW, not having heard back from Avnet, I cancelled my order. I also noticed that they had sneaked in an extra charge on the order of $20 - don't know what for? - the international shipping charge is $25?

All in all not a good experience trying to order through them. Has anybody else had similar experiences?

jkeny,

Avnet is a very large distributor to large manufacturers. I suspect their business model is to smaller buyers. For instance my employer spends a few $million a month with them and can be pretty heavy handed when dealing with them. I've found Digikey much more friendly toward the small buyer like me.

I would not bother with Avnet unless they were my only option.

Thanks Sam9,
They seemed to be geared to some other business profile. I have never tried to order from them before & only went to them because they had the cheapest 2SK1058 mosfets I could find.

Reichelt.de in Germany were cheap also at €3.50 each but have a €150 min for export orders.

Is there anybody in Germany willing to ship these on to me if I order about 10?

Avnet is definitely geared toward the larger company, like a manufacturer. Newark went through a phase like that in the 90's, but has become friendlier since then. digi-key started out as a hobbyist supplier, and while they are still geared towards smaller companies in most things, every once in a while, there are parts you can't order from them in quantities smaller than 200 or 500. i tried to order 2SK1058's a couple of months ago...... a NO-GO unless i wanted 200 of them, i only wanted 1. MCM (now owned by Newark) wanted twice as much for them, and were on backorder for 2 months. B&D had them for less than MCM's price, but still higher than expected, but they were available in onesie-twosie quantities RIGHT AWAY.

I'm thinking of trying the new kid on the block Classd ltd - they are manufacturing lateral mosfets (N & P type) and selling on ebay for $6. They are next door to me (in the UK) so worth a look. Only problem is their datasheet is lacking.

Has anybody used these yet?

http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Class-D-Design-Ltd
Click Laterals Mosfets in left Menu.

I find this is a bit dangerous, in my opinion.
May well be some low grade, even faked, laterals.

He does not even tell manufacturer :bawling:
Because I suppose some little private company
would NOT make LATERAL MOSFET.

There is 100% Postive Feedback, which tell just about nothing.Because such feedbacks can be easily manipulated.
By mass posting done by your self 😀
Eventually using some Proxy server.

Rikard,
I emailed them too - 2 days ago (via their ebay account) & got a reply that they would contact me by phone within 24hrs - I was away from the phone some of yesterday but no voicemail or call yet!

Lineup, one thing is that they base their amp modules on these mosfets so I doubt they are inferior! Probably worth a punt at £3 each?
