When I press on the platter of my SP10, I can feel some play (rocking). Can the bearing/ spindle be worn?
Can they be replaced?

None of my 3 have any discernable rocking motion.
To the best of my knowledge the bearing cannot be replaced.

I assume the platter is screwed firmly down to the motor hub?
The other possibility is that the motor needs some lubrication. The manual tells you how to do this.
I wouldn't expect the bearing to be worn unless it came from a radio station, in which case, it will have been thrashed to within an inch of its life. (Possibly beyond.)

It's from the SABC
Well, it was used in the SABC studios so, yes, it has seen some abuse.
I'm currently refurbishing the unit by getting the platter edge and the main housing sandblasted before lacquer coating.
OK, so it's not exactly flapping around in the wind, but it does move enough for me to be concerned. I'm hoping that in use the rocking won't degrade sonics.
